WHAT I DO
I am a confident communicator, persuasive writer and creative researcher driven by a strong innate curiosity about people. A sociologist by training, I am driven to improve people's lives through research, and I'm especially interested in methods and innovative approaches to research that create systemic change.
In 2019 I completed a PhD in Sociology, and today I am have held roles in social and policy research over the past 6 years. I've also supported social enterprises and CICs. I am able to apply my creative mind, rigorous and innovative research skills and experience demonstrating impact to help organisations:

SOCIAL & POLICY RESEARCH
- Talented researcher with over 8 years' experience in qualitative and mixed methods research.
- Qualitative expert in in-depth and semi-structured interviews, ethnographic observations, case studies, and policy analysis.
- Knowledge of participatory and creative methods including co-design workshops using Miro.
- Experience designing and administering surveys and impact evaluations for musicians, students and segments of the public.
- Passionate about creating systems change, I have skills in systemic design with knowledge of systems thinking tools and methods and growing knowledge of futures and foresight methods that can helps organisations prepare for the future.
- Able to communicate complex ideas clearly to a wide array of audiences through presentations, blogs, reports and articles.
- Experienced working with and gaining sign off from board members, senior leaders, and expert advisors.
- Knowledge of UK policy and government with an ability to tailor outputs to a policy audience.
- Leading project design, client management, and developing partnerships.
- Facilitating focus groups, running workshops and chairing panels.
- Able to run projects to time and budget with a variety of stakeholders.

SAMPLES OF MY WORK
- Reports I've co-authored for the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre on social mobility in the screen industries here and research including an ambitious plan to improve social mobility across the creative industries here.
- Read the 10 year evaluation for PRS Foundation's Women Make Music fund here (co-authored with Nicole McNeilly).
- I led early scoping research to help the Work Foundation develop a new Insecure Work Index for the UK, which we then applied to analyse insecure work for women and how insecure work was limiting choices for workers across the UK (with UNISON).
- I've written policy briefings on barriers to training for people on Universal Credit, worker insecurity, retail and the pandemic and an employer guide for social care providers I've produced in my role at the Work Foundation.
- A column on Universal Credit and access to training published in the Big Issue North.
- A think piece in FE News about the Universal Credit research above.
- Peer reviewed article on funding for popular music education and cultural policy in Wales in the Journal of Popular Music Education (coauthored with James Hannam).
